So back to Canada, some time in the Gulf Islands and anchored off Nanaimo. Trip to Vancouver and anchored in False Creek for a week. Then back to Nanaimo to leave the boat and then back to the Yukon. Next Ethiopia.
I am afraid I have lost interest in this blog. We have left Port Townsend , visited the San Juan Islands, Revisited the Gulf Islands, Returned to Nanaimo, Crossed to Vancouver and Returned to Nanaimo. Next week we go back to the Yukon. Once we left Saturna Island we headed across Haro Strait to the U.S.of A, the San Juan Islands and the port of Friday Harbour. Downtown Friday Harbour We were met at the dock by the customs officer who was very sceptical when he heard we were Canadians and had a US registered boat. A call to his supervisor and a call to Skagway cleared things and we were welcomed with open arms. We spent two days here then embarked for Fisherman's cove which is all of five miles away. It is a perfect anchorage with lots of room and the perfect depth. We enjoyed the novel experience of picking delicious apples off a tree in a public park in the middle of town. Fisherman's Bay Another short jaunt brought us through San Juan Channel and out to Mackaye Harbour perched on the shore of Juan de Fuca Strait. Once again the sun has warmth, the flowers have scent and colour, the boat has been cleaned up a bit and Yammy arrived on the Air North flight. Yammy and her older brother Dan For two days we spent time with Yammy's brother Dan who is visiting friends in Victoria. Then it was on to Portland Island and Royal Cove, just a few miles away. Anchored in Royal Cove Ganges and Salt Spring Island were next on out itinerary. We were fortunate to meet up with former Yukoners Angus Mcintyre and his wife Christine.
